Profile
The band started as a trio in August 2002, in an art institute in central Jakarta. Two art school colleagues turn lover from the visual art faculty, Rio (Yusmario Farabi) & Sari (Aprilia Apsari), decided to form a band together with their fellow art school student named Saleh (Saleh Hussein). This was the first formation of White Shoes & The Couples Company, which features Sari in vocal & violin, Rio on rhythm guitar and Saleh on melody guitar. The three of them made their first debut with this formation in a college event. However, the trio formation diverged from their original plan where actually Sari and Rio had keenly asked a married couple to join the band. The couple was Ricky (Ricky Surya Virgana) & Mela (Apri Mela Prawidyanti Virgana), both of whom studied classical music in the same art school. Thus was the “Couple” aspect of the band’s name made plural.

Yet the couple was hard to meet since they were busy lecturing and covering for orchestras. Several months later, the couple agreed to join White Shoes & The Couples Company with Ricky on Bass and cello and Mela on viola, keyboards and piano.
The band remained a quintet for two years, until necessity required them to enlist a drummer for live shows. Enter percussionist/vibraphonist, John (John Navid), who joined the band in 2004, and evened out the lineup to three classical music students and three visual arts students.

White Shoes & The Couples Company recorded their debut album comprising 11 songs under Aksara Records, an indie records label that based in Jakarta. On August 2005, this album was launched by Aksara Records and distributed by Universal Music Indonesia in Indonesia. The album has sold over 15,000 copies, and it’s a major step for an indie band.

n the same year, White Shoes & The Couples Company has contributed one song in Original Movie Soundtrack “Janji Joni” produced by Kalyana Shira Films. The movie was a big hit in Indonesian Cinemas, and also the single from the band, titled “Senandung Maaf”, becoming a high rotation in every radio in Indonesia. Following this success, in 2006, White Shoes & The Couples Company join another production from Kalyana Shira Films in a movie “Berbagi Suami”. The band recorded two songs for this movie soundtrack.

Biography:
1994-2002
Period of formation. In this period, they met each other, played and hung up together, fought each other, rehearsed a lot, and wrote their song.

2002-2004
In 2004, The S.I.G.I.T. signed to Spills Records and released their self titled debut mini album (EP) and performed many bar gigs and venue. Their first single, Soul Sister soon became a local radio hits in Bandung and Jakarta. MTV Trax Magazine described them as “The Hottest Rock N Roll Band in town”.

By contributing on movie soundtrack for Catatan Akhir Sekolah (CAS), their fanbase grew rapidly. Did I Ask Your Opinion, finally became their first single to be broadcasted on MTV Indonesia.

After leaving Spills Records, they begun to spread their stage performance to bigger venue and region by their own.

Indonesian blues power trio "Gugun Blues Shelter"

Previously called the Bluesbug, Gugun Blues Shelter is an Indonesian blues power trio that is a breath of fresh air in the seemingly dying Asian blues scene these days. Influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bettie Davies, and Led Zeppelin among others, the band forced many music fans to take notice of its powerful, flawless genre-crossing blend of blues that incorporate influences from rock, funk, and soul.
Led by guitarist/vocalist Gugun, Gugun & Blues Shelter has released two albums under the Bluesbug moniker “Get The Bug” (2004) and “Turn it On” (2007) that has been gaining praises from music critics and fans alike. ”Turn It On” was voted as one of the best Indonesian album in 2007 by Rolling Stone Indonesia Magazine and Gugun was noted as one of the most promising local guitar player by the same maga-zine. In the same year, Indonesia’s Trax Magazine also voted Gugun as the best guitar player in South East Asia. Gugun Blues Shelter is not only drew the attentions of local music lover only. THE BEATLES Biography

The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960, who are often recognized as the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed act in popular music. From 1962, the group consisted of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals). Rooted in skiffle and 1950s rock and roll, the group later worked in many genres ranging from folk rock to psychedelic rock, often incorporating classical and other elements in innovative ways. The nature of their enormous popularity, which first emerged as the "Beatlemania" fad, transformed as their songwriting grew in sophistication. The group came to be perceived as the embodiment of progressive ideals, seeing their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions of the 1960s.

Initially with a five-piece line-up of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe (bass) and Pete Best (drums), The Beatles built their reputation in Liverpool and Hamburg clubs over a three-year period from 1960. Sutcliffe left the group in 1961, and Best was replaced by Starr the following year.
